Rust-Oleum

Rust-Oleum

After Rust-Oleum acquired Zinsser’s coatings facility in Somerset, NJ, the minimal existing plant documentation – basically consisting of major process equipment, process lines, and instrumentation – needed to be enhanced to comply with OSHA’s PSM and NJDEP requirements. EI Associates was selected to upgrade the plant documentation and add line numbers/sizes, insulation specifications, instrumentation identification/numbers, process control loops, and equipment information for both process and utilities. The project entailed significant field investigation to obtain equipment nameplate or recorded data and other “As-Built” field information for the above. Existing corporate standards and newly developed standards, where none previously existed, were included and the information was inputted to full size, updated, electronic format P&IDs that complied with ISA standards. The initial project was for the Polymerization Room, Cooling Water loop, and City Water supply. Subsequently, EI Associates also developed the P&IDs for the Shellac Area. When completed, EIA performed a field walk-down to verify the new drawings.
