Linden Generating Station Renovations

Public Service Electric & Gas Company
Project Type: Renovation
Project Area: 52,970 SF

The Linden Generating Station Administration Building accommodated office functions at Public Service Electric and Gas Company’s (PSEG) Linden site since its inception in the 1950’s. Never renovated or upgraded, the building utilities and finishes had outlived their normal lifespan, requiring EI Associates to perform a detailed facility assessment to establish renovation requirements, a project budget, a goal for an LEED certified finished product, and design improvements to the existing three-story building. This project recently obtained LEED® Silver Certification for Commercial Interiors via 28 LEED Checklist points including three Innovation in Design points. This project addressed ADA requirements, code deficiencies, indoor air quality, life safety and the comfort of all the employees. General project requirements included roof and window wall replacement, masonry restoration, replacement of HVAC systems, the design of new office interiors and new plumbing and electrical systems. Detailed phasing plans were prepared by our firm to logically set forth a cost-effective, practical sequence of construction activities to minimize disruption to PSEG’s operations.
