Camp Hill School District Nears Renovation Completions at MS/HS and Looks to Hoover Elementary School Next

EI Associates, a full-service architectural and engineering firm, and the Camp Hill School District have continued to work together to ensure the completion of critical renovations at the Camp Hill Middle School/High School as well as effectively planning for future improvements at Hoover Elementary School. Every effort has been taken during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic regarding safety of all individuals to keep all projects on track and provide the necessary updates needed and to ensure the safety of staff and students moving forward.

Since the initial District-Wide Feasibility Study completed in 2018, EI Associates has been working with the Camp Hill School District to address building deficiencies and code compliance issues that were discovered at the Middle School/High School facility. Working through the long-range facilities plan developed by EI Associates, the District decided to first begin with addressing water infiltration issues. The entire building envelope was re-sealed last summer to alleviate any further water intrusion. Additionally, the facility saw the replacement of exterior windows and doors.

Currently, the entire facility is undergoing major interior modernization renovations. Both building entrances and the administration areas for the Middle School/High School are being reconfigured to provide secured vestibules along with updates to interior finishes for an improved indoor environment and reorganization of educational spaces to accommodate new layouts for enhanced learning experiences. Construction for this current phase will continue throughout the summer and is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of the new school year. The remainder of the scope of work will be completed during winter break and summer 2021.

The Camp Hill District is now seeking improvements at Hoover Elementary School. The proposed project will address traffic and safety concerns with a new parent drop-off/pick-up loop on the west side of the facility. The Camp Hill School District is a walking and drop-off/pick-up only District with no bussing. The added loop will relieve the current crowding of cars at parent drop-off and pick-up on two bordering neighborhood streets. Additionally, new play areas will be located away from main parking lot creating a safer space for students to play and better access to the building. A new District Administration Office addition, to replace the current overcrowded office building, is also a part of the proposed project as an alternate option and will provide a more accessible and energy efficient facility. The project is scheduled to be released for bids mid-August of this year.
