EI Associates designed major site and building improvements as part of the development of Brookdale Community College’s Northern Monmouth Higher Education Center located in Hazlet, NJ. The project entailed the adaptive re-use conversion of an existing 29,000 sq. ft. warehouse “flex” building, the redesign of the exterior facade with stone and stucco, the design of new window openings and a new covered student entrance. The interior of the building was completely transformed to accommodate classrooms, lecture rooms, science labs and offices, while portions of the high-bay space were retained to create a monumental main entrance and student center. The existing 4.1 acre site was also renovated to provide student parking for 200 vehicles as well as barrier-free access to the building.
