Process Scale-Up Facility Expansion

EI Associates is pleased to announce our latest assignment for Hemispherx Biopharma Inc. to provide design services and process engineering for their new Alferon N Injection Process Suite “Scale-Up” project. EI assisted Hemispherx with the commercialization of one of their process units which involved the expansion of the existing New Brunswick, NJ facility to accommodate new process equipment and systems.  

The new process suite includes larger batch equipment, new bioreactors as well as the use of continuous centrifugation. Our design has resulted in reduced labor cost, the alleviation of bioburden concerns, required a smaller manufacturing footprint within the facility and provided for a dramatically more cost effective production process. EI designed all process related improvements as well as architectural, structural, HVAC and electrical system upgrades to support the new process suite.
