PHOENIX, AZ December 2008
EI Associates has been recognized by School Planning & Management magazine for "Outstanding Green Design + Architecture in Education." Their project, the District Administrative Office Project at School District of the City of York has been designed as a "Project of Distinction" award winner, and appeared in the November 2008 issue of School Planning & Management's GREEN Education Design Showcase.
School Planning & Management magazine established the GREEN Education Design Showcase awards program to help fill the need for information on what makes a "good" school and to provide a vehicle for sharing innovative, yet practical, sustainable solutions in planning, design and construction. According to Executive Editor, Deb Moore, "Good designs don't just happen; they are based on research and best practice – and the District Administrative Office Project highlights innovative solutions that are helping School District of the City of York get to green."
Projects in the showcase were judged by experts in education and green design. The jury gave consideration to mindfulness of materials, energy and environment; the design as a learning laboratory; student and community involvement; integration into the coursework; innovation/creativeness.
