SPECIFICATIONS WRITER

Classification: Full-time, exempt
Reports to: Senior Vice President
Location: Harrisburg, PA office

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for developing detailed project specifications and assisting project team in coordination of contract documents. Writes descriptions of processes and processing operations. Works with engineers, operations personnel, manuals, and other materials to develop specification

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides quality management reviews and technical advice in design and development through construction document phases
  • Attendance as part of a team interviewing for a project
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors
  • Assists project architects with product substitution review
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures

COMPETENCIES
  • Strong knowledge of construction procedures and schedules
  • Strong knowledge of building envelope components, interior plans and material requirements of all building and facility types. Advanced knowledge in one or more types such as; Laboratory, Courthouse, Justice, and/or Healthcare specifications preferred
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents
  • Ability to produce a well-coordinated, detail oriented, fully integrated Program Manual
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and produce results within deadline
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

EXPERIENCE
Required
Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering
Registered Architect
5-10 years of specification writing experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

ARCHITECTURAL CADD TECHNICIAN

Classification: Full-time
Reports to: Lead Architect/Project Manager
Location: Harrisburg, PA office

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Architectural CADD Technician experienced in the educational, institutional, commercial, and municipal fields needed to perform the preparation of routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams from design through to construction documents. Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for projects. Makes simple decisions but refers most questions and/or problems to lead architect/project manager. Has a solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with architectural terminology. Has familiarity with Architectural Desktop Suite, to include Revit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepares schematics, design development and construction drawings

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • 4-year accredited degree and internship; or
  • 2-year degree/graduate of technical school;

PREFERRED
  • Possesses base knowledge and understanding of building codes and the requirements of the LEED program
  • Revit experience
  • Experience with educational facilities
  • 1-3 years of related experience
